CherryRoad Media will launch a new website for The Munising Beacon next week! Here are a few key notes related to our website launch: • Subscribers will continue to receive an email with each new digital issue: it will have a picture of and link to the current e-edition. • The new website will have an expandable ADA accessibility toolbar located in the bottom right corner.

Photographer finds beauty from above

The Munising Beacon proudly presents, once a month, another “Artist Profile”, a series highlighting local artists and community members that have a passion for bringing beauty into Alger County. Have you ever ventured into the Gallery Coffee Company here in Munising and wondered who took the photographs that are displayed throughout the building? One of those artists, Patrick Hugener, owner of Head In The Clouds Photography, is the subject of this month’s “Artist Biography.” Hugener grew up in Fenton, Mich.

New owners take on The Pub

The Pub in Chatham is under new ownership, as a pair of young entrepreneurs take a chance on the local eatery. DaNiel Tebear and Zachary Hoel, both 26, are now in charge of the restaurant, which is the only full-service bar and restaurant in Chatham.

The winners of the annual Munising DDA Holiday Decorating Contest have been announced. South Bay Outfitters took first place and the $250 prize. Pictured Rocks Real Estate took second and Alger County Agency took third, winning $150 and $100 respectively.

Toys for Tots in Neo’s name

Students at Superior Central are organizing a special Toys For Tots drive in honor of one of their own. At the December 7 girls basketball game between Munising and Superior Central, a toy drive will be held in honor of Neo John Paul Wilson, a Superior Central student who passed away from complications due to an unknown health defect this summer.
