If you went out to Rekindle the Spirit last Thursday, there was a nice chance to see a different side of Munising for just a little bit. Yes, there was a family-centric holiday event with plenty of characters to interact with, but it also showcased businesses and locations that many everyday citizens don’t think about often when visiting downtown.

Just a reminder, because it is that time of year, if school is closed for a weather event, then the public library is closed as well. The annual Library Used Book “Sale” will take place Dec. 21 – Dec. 30 in the library meeting room. A vast variety of used books will be available. Remember, used books make great gifts and there is sure to be something for everyone!

Clifford Kaja — the Gladstone man arrested in a cybersting at a Munising hotel in September — had a pretrial hearing on Wednesday, Dec. 7. He is being charged with one count each of accosting a child for an immoral purpose, furnishing alcohol to a minor and using a computer to commit a crime. No action was taken on the charges due to the release of additional discovery evidence provided to the defense. Out on bond, Kaja attended the hearing over Zoom. The next hearing will be Jan. 18, 2023.
