The Munising High School boys basketball team owned the paint Tuesday night, beating the Bark River-Harris Broncos, 78-43, in Bark River. The Mustangs had four players score in double figures, led by Cully Trzeciak’s 20 points.

Cougars win Orange Out game against Mid Pen

The Superior Central Cougars took a strong opening run and stretched it into a victory against rival Mid Peninsula on Tuesday, Jan. 31 in Eben Junction. It was the first time this year that the Cougars boys team lead a contest from first points to end of the game.

McBroom helps with Billerud funding

The state’s supplemental budget bill was signed Tuesday morning, Jan. 31 in Lansing, with a major private enterprise project receiving $200 million. The funding will be used to help the Billerud paper make necessary improvements to make newer products needed in multiple industries.

The Grand Marais Lake Trout and Salmon Fishing Tournament has officially been canceled, according to both the Grand Marais Chamber of Commerce and former Event Director Aleta Hubbard in independent reports. The event brought in dozens of teams from across the Upper Great Lakes and added depth and quality to the U.P.’s competitive fishing schedule, but organization of the event came into question after a change in leadership of the chamber.
