Support “Defend the Guard” bill

The Michigan State HB-4336 “Defend The Guard Act” should be supported and adopted in the state of Michigan as law. HB-4336 is currently sitting in the Military, Veterans, and Homeland Security committee in the Michigan State House Legislature and it is my desire along with many others who support not only the constitution of the United States, but also advocate for the lives of our state national guard. This is a bipartisan- sponsored bill that must be passed by the committee in order to be introduced on the house floor.

Former Negaunee post dispatcher found guilty on numerous charges

After a four-day jury trial that ended on Thursday, May 11, a former dispatch supervisor for the Michigan State Police has been found guilty of multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct. Marquette County Prosecutor Matt Wiese stated to WLUC-TV that McEachern was found guilty on one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct (victim under 13), which has a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison for each charge, as well as third-degree CSC (force or coercion), which carries a minimum sentence of 15 years, and fourth-degree CSC (force or coercion), which is a two-year high-court misdemeanor.

The Munising Beacon celebrates first anniversary

With today’s edition, The Munising Beacon enters its second year of consistent publication in Munising and Alger County. The first edition was released on Friday, May 13, 2022 with the headline story focusing on the missing time capsule from the Mather Centennial ceremony, the Livermores purchasing the Au Train grocery store and local fundraising efforts at an East Channel trivia night.
