100 Years Ago - The Munising News - Nov. 30, 1923 Alger in new senate district Fifteen different plans have already been proposed for rearranging the 32 senatorial districts at the special session of the Legislature which convenes Tuesday, Dec. 4. All of these plans are predicated on giving Wayne County seven senators where she now has five. Many of the proposed plans put Alger County with Luce, Delta, Marquette and Schoolcraft Counties.

Grant supports exhibit on U.P.“ExceptionalWomen”

The Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center at Northern Michigan University has received an $8,500 grant from Michigan Humanities to create a traveling exhibition titled Extraordinary Women of the Upper Peninsula. The exhibition will feature women from the U.P.’s 15 counties who have had a regional, national or international impact through their work in politics, science, international relations, Native American rights, literature and other fields.

Small Town Christmas Saturday The third annual Small Town Christmas will be in Chatham this Saturday from 1 p.m.-5 p.m.. Crafters and vendors will be available throughout the event, along with a parade at 3 p.m. and additional events available afterwards.
