National Park Service As we’re coming up on Ice Fest, the Munising Beacon thought this article on Ice Climbing from the National Park Service might be a good primer to kick off the coming events, especially if you’re new to the area or just visiting.

National Park Service Artists have had a long influence on the formation, expansion, and direction of America’s national parks. By painting landscapes of the American West, artists publicized natural wonders little known to an eastern populace.

National Park Service The Isle Royale Teen Artist Exploration is for all aspiring teen artists who want to develop their art through experiencing wilderness. It is open to all visual and performing artists, writers, and composers ages 13 to 18 at time of participation.

The Bonifas Gallery in Escanaba held its reception/opening for their photography competition entitled The U.P. Through My Lens recently.

Wednesday Jan 17th just after 7:30 p.m. a green fireball was seen by thousands of people, including several locals in Christmas, Manistique, and even right here around Munising. A college observatory in Iowa, some 120 miles away also took note of the phenomena.
