Munising Moose Lodge #1386 gave a contribution to the MPacks food program, which focuses on making healthy food available to students. The head of this program, Vicki Ballas accepted this check on behalf of Munising Moose Lodge Member, Eileen Egilsson.

The Alger County Board of Commissioners met on January 15, 2024. Among the topics discussed were the approval of 18 items relating to expenditures and appointments. This included: paying for UP911 services, ambulance repair, the recycling contract (1 year), first responders, DHHS, the cancellation of Spectrum as a backup internet provider, and other topics already covered in previous meetings. All 18 items were unanimously approved.

The City Commission met on January 15, 2024. Most of the meeting was taken up with the report from the recent audit. Overall, the audit proved favorable, showing a slow but steady increase in the city’s funding.

9-1-1 landlines in the Chatham and Trenary areas went out last Tuesday, the outage only affecting the TDS customers. Equipment was brought in to prevent some of the components from freezing in the sub-zero temperatures, but it worked too well and overheated the system.
