Unwavering Support: A Landlocked Victory for Rescue 21

This year’s Fundraiser was the most successful to date, despite there being no ice on the Bay and no fishing to be done. Through the generous donations from local and UP businesses for raffle items as well as the amazing support of the community more than $17,00.00 dollars were raised to be used for new and existing equipment upgrades to enhance Rescue 21’s lifesaving mission. All rescue 21 members are unpaid volunteers from various walks of life here in Alger county.

About the Resurrection of Jesus and How It Is Relevant Both to the Christian Life and Pastoral Counseling:

Christ’s resurrection was unlike any other resurrection in history. His resurrection was not a resurrection that would prolong life until death would one day again occur, but rather it was a more powerful resurrection that was imperishable, glorious, powerful, and immortal (1 Cor 15:42-44, 53). Christ’s resurrection was the first of many like it (1 Cor 15:20), though the rest have yet to occur until His Second Coming. Christ’s bodily resurrection also exemplifies that He has taken on a physical nature from the moment of His incarnation into the rest of eternity. This resurrected physical body is similar enough to the pre-death body that Christ was able to be recognized by His followers!

Munising School Public Library News

Many thanks to all those involved in making the 2024 Earth Fest Celebration a success. The displays by Mrs. Horne’s Native Ed class; the interactive displays by the ACRES Group; and also displays by Alger Soil Conservation District, John Forslin and the Climate Reality Project, the Alger County Seed Library, and the Mather Elementary students with their super neat Nature Haikus, all made the library very “Earth-Festive!” Thanks to Rep. Jenn Hill for the Legislative update on the environment, and for the recycling coloring books that she provided. Altogether, everyone combined for a wonderful celebration. Extreme gratitude goes out as well to Joan Potter-Sommer for coordinating the displays, Dr. James Waller and Dr. Stephen DeDecker for their excellent presentations, and finally, to Gallery Coffee for hosting the nature series, the response has been very positive. Looking forward to 2025.

Consequently, students in wealthier areas often had access to better facilities, resources, and educational opportunities than those in less affluent districts.

Sandhill Cranes and Agriculture: Seeking Balance in a Longstanding Relationship

The return of migrating birds to Michigan signals that spring is here, a welcome sight for most of us. Sandhill cranes (Grus canadensis) are perhaps the most iconic of these seasonal visitors. Their rattling bugle calls seem to breathe life back into the thawing landscape and spread a sense of hope for the season to come. However, there is a subset of the population that may not fully share this sentiment; farmers who experience crop damage caused by Sandhill cranes.

Township Turmoil: Resignations Rock Rock River Board Amidst Growing Tensions

Three members of the Rock River Township Board abruptly resigned at their scheduled meeting following a heated exchange between board chair Trevor Case and several of the township residents. An ongoing disagreement between the two parties has resulted in Personal Protection orders being issued and several instances requiring law enforcement intervention.
