Munising School Public Library News

The library is once again promoting the ReLeaf Michigan’s Big Tree Hunt Contest. The contest is for all age groups to help track our state’s historical living landmarks and get people outside and looking up at the trees! AuTrain Onota School District Showcases Danish-Inspired Art at DeVos Art Museum

For seven years, students from the AuTrain Onota School District have participated in the annual Children’s Exhibition, a very special artwork display at the DeVos Art Museum on the campus of Northern Michigan University in Marquette. Fourteen students in grades kindergarten to eighth have crafted unique and engaging artwork and are sharing it with the public. AuTrain Onota schools is one of only nine total schools showcasing their work and art teacher, Diane Illikainen, considers this a prestigious honor for her students.

Guilty Verdict in Munising: Disturbing the Peace on School Bus

May 23, 2024- MUNISING- Yesterday, a jury returned a verdict of guilty against Lindsey Robbins for the crime of Disturbing the Peace. The charge arose from an incident that occurred on October 6, 2023, in the City of Munising. The defendant was alleged to have trespassed on a Munising Public School’s bus while children were on board. The defendant then began screaming various obscenities at the children. Terry Bower, the bus driver, testified that he was concerned for the children’s safety, which prompted him to put his arm up to block the defendant from proceeding down the bus aisle.

Munising High School Natural Resources Class Fish Release Field Trip

On Tuesday May 14, Mrs. Ludecke’s Natural Resources class went to the Anne River to release the salmon fry that had been raised in the classroom. Students left at nine in the morning and returned back to school by one in the afternoon. Mrs. Ludecke’s Natural resources class is a mixture of tenth, eleventh and twelfth graders. Fourteen out of the thirty students went on the field trip.
