A Pastor and a taxi driver both died and went to heaven. St. Peter was at the Pearly gates waiting for them. ‘Come with me’, said St. Peter to the taxi driver. The taxi driver did as he was told and followed St. Peter to a mansion. It had anything you could imagine from a bowling alley to an Olympic size pool. ‘Wow, thank you’, said the taxi driver. Next, St. Peter led the Pastor to a rugged old shack with a bunk bed and a little old television set. ‘Wait, I think you are a little mixed up’, said the Pastor. ‘Shouldn’t I be the one who gets the mansion? After all, I was a Pastor, ran a church, and preached God’s word.’ ‘Yes, that’s true. But during your sermons people slept. When the taxi driver drove, everyone prayed.’

Munising Downtown Development Authority Expands Cultural Landscape with New Art Installations

The Munising Downtown Development Authority (DDA) continues to enrich the city’s cultural and historical landscape with its latest art installation, “From Horses to Hubcaps,” part of an ongoing series of public art projects that have transformed Munising over the past decade. Since initiating these art installations 10 years ago, the DDA has consistently sought to highlight the city’s history and enhance its aesthetic appeal. According to Kathy Reynolds, Executive Director of the DDA, the project began with a desire to visually reflect Munising’s rich heritage.

Michigan residents can now transfer a vehicle title online at Michigan.gov/SOS.

“Since taking office, one of my highest priorities has been to provide convenient options for Michigan residents to complete their transactions without needing to come into a branch office,” Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said. “I’m proud that we’ve reached another milestone toward that goal with a new, faster online option to transfer vehicle titles. We will never stop working to provide excellent customer service to every Michigan resident.”

Miners River Bridge at Pictured Rocks to Undergo Replacement, Closure Announced

A significant infrastructure project is set to begin at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore as the Miners River Bridge is scheduled for a complete replacement due to structural issues. The National Park Service announced that starting August 15, 2024, the bridge will experience phased closures, leading to a full closure from September 2, 2024, until Memorial Day on May 26, 2025.

From Porch to Water:
