Opening day of the traditional firearm deer hunting season is right around the corner, and many hunters are busy scouting land, watching trail cameras and preparing equipment. Excitement filled the air at the Munising Moose Lodge #1386 on Oct. 28, as 48 eager players gathered for their weekly bingo game, competing for the Michigan Progressive Bingo jackpot of $1,720.

After 15 negotiating sessions over five months, Munising Public Schools and the Munising Education Association agreed to a two-year teachers contract last month. Superintendent Mike Travis said the two negotiating teams, representing the teachers union and the administration and school board, signed a tentative agreement on the contract on Sept.
