When you pray, take others along

Last time, we looked at the geography of prayer. We don’t send our prayers off to a distant God in heaven. The word for “heaven” in our passage is plural in the Gospel’s original language. It’s “heavens,” which is also our word for sky. God inhabits the invisible space all around us. God is as close to us as the air we breathe.

What can be done to treat recurring bladder infections?

Q: I am a 36-year-old woman and have had several bladder infections in the last year or so. Each time the symptoms started (burning, frequent urination of small amounts and sometimes some blood in the toilet bowl), within a few days, I’ve been seen either by my doctor or a nearby urgent care office, where I was given a five-day prescription for an antibiotic. Ernest E. Norberg of Mesa, Arizona, passed away at age 87 on Oct. 30, 2024, in Apache Junction, Arizona. He died of dementia after 10 days in a private nursing home. Ernest was born in Chatham on March 23, 1937, to parents Waino and Elsie (Koski) Norberg.

Shirley Naomi Olson

Shirley Naomi Olson, age 96, of Munising, died late Sunday morning, Oct. 27, 2024, at her home under the loving care of her family. She was born in Canton, Illinois, on April 1, 1928, to Cameron and Maggie (Skidmore) Denney. Shirley grew up in central Illinois and graduated from Broadview Academy. She attended Andrews University and met Walter Olson in their chemistry class. They were married on Dec. 21, 1952, in Glendale, California. Shirley earned her bachelor’s degree in dietetics at Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, California.
