Icebreakers record a sweep
The Superior Icebreakers 19U girls hockey team defeated Traverse City last Saturday at Alger Centennial Arena by scores of 4-1 and 6-2. .

In the recently completed regular season, the Superior Central girls volleyball team twice defeated Rapid River by a 3-1 margin. So when the bracket was released for the Division 4 district tournament being played this week in Munising, and the Cougars saw they were scheduled to face Rapid River in the first round on Monday night, perhaps they expected another comfortable victory.

An early look at some film gave Munising girls volleyball head coach Josh Cole a good feeling on how to beat Norway. The Mustangs proved his premonition to be true, as they took down the Knights in straight sets on Tuesday, Oct. 29 — 25-14, 25-16 and 25-6 — and much of it was thanks to their steady serving.
