Christmas in Christmas: a trooper’s holiday

Being able to live in and serve the community he grew up in is something very special for Michigan State Police Trooper Tom Kinnunen. Growing up near Christmas, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, he is especially grateful to serve his hometown community this holiday season. Christmas is an unincorporated community located within Au Train Township in Alger County about two miles northwest of Munising and a 422-mile drive northwest of Detroit.

Pursuing your dreams affects your wellness

When you ask a child what they want to be when they grow up, you will often hear things like astronaut, doctor or professional athlete. Yet, in reality, these career fields are some of the most uncommon. You see, when we are little, we have no fear, nothing that keeps our dreams small. We see what we want to do in life, and we have zero reason to think we could not do it.

Permits cover activities such as plowing to personal cabins, moving timber and hauling gravel, and may be of particular interest to recreational residence holders and private land or cabin holders.

Weekly prayer meeting announced

To the editor: A few weeks ago, at the November Munising school board meeting, some parents and grandparents spoke up for their very young elementary school students about disturbances that were going on in the classrooms and in the halls. What they said hurt my heart and, I think, everyone in the room.
