The sixth annual Market Walk is now under way. Market Walk is a free program open to Tribal Members and all Alger County residents to earn tokens to spend on locally grown produce at the Munising Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market.

The Alger County Chamber of Commerce has announced a scholarship to be awarded this spring. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a person of any age and educational endeavor planning to attend a higher education program or institution.

The Munising City Commission met Wednesday, Jan. 15, to discuss a range of issues, including infrastructure updates, downtown development and events that will affect the area in the coming months.

Devin Olson, who has served as Munising’s city manager since Jan. 20, 2014, has announced his resignation. In a letter submitted to the City Commission on Jan. 15 — just days shy of his 11th anniversary in the role — Olson cited personal reasons for stepping down.
