Addie Frusti had a huge night for the Superior Central girls basketball team last Thursday, Jan 15. Frusti poured in a career-high 32 points and drained seven 3-pointers, helping the Cougars to a 51-31 victory over Stephenson.

“It was good for sure,” head coach Skip Rutter said. “She was looking to score and hit a few shots early and just kind of kept rolling with it. She was feeling it from the get-go.”

The contest was tied 8-8 after the first quarter, but Superior Central built a 24-14 lead by halftime and was in front 37-27 after three quarters.

“It was a nice win for us,” Rutter said. “We’ve been playing better as of late. … We still had 25 turnovers, but we will definitely take the win, and I think we are headed in the right direction.”

Frusti also grabbed eight rebounds. Marissa Strohm added 12 points, including two 3-pointers, and pulled down four rebounds. Aubrey Kroupa scored five points, and Marlene Johnson finished with two.

The Cougars also dropped a home game against Newberry on Jan. 12, falling 39-23.

“I felt decent about the game. I don’t feel good about losing, but how we played, I feel decent about,” Rutter said. “I feel like we are headed in the right direction, for sure.”

Frusti led Superior Central with 17 points in the loss.

Superior Central (2-5 overall) heads to Powers North Central on Thursday and will be home Monday against North Dickinson.
