Introducing Roam for Good

In partnership with the Roam Community Foundation, The Munising Beacon is proud to launch a new monthly column dedicated to celebrating the quiet force behind so much of what makes Alger County special: its community advocates.

Each month, the Roam for Good Award will honor an outstanding individual who gives his or her time, skill and heart in service to others. From environmental stewards to youth mentors, these are the people who show up, often without recognition, and make our communities stronger. Then, in 2026, one of these 12 honorees will be named the Roam for Good Community Advocate of the Year.

For our debut column, we’re focusing on health and emergency responders — the EMTs, paramedics and search-andrescue personnel who keep us safe and steady when life takes a turn. It’s our privilege to announce the first Roam for Good honoree: Raenelle Ealy.
