The most dramatic change of the Fall sports season is arguably with the Munising cross country programs, as the Mustangs move up to Division 2 of the MHSAA U.P. competition. It will make another state championship a little harder for the Munising girls.
The Diocesan Eucharistic Congress was a privileged time of grace for those in attendance. We gave thanks to the Lord for the blessing that he gave us, especially the gift of the Most Holy Eucharist. We celebrated Mass, the source and summit of our life. There were prayerful Eucharistic processions, inspiring speakers and good fellowship. Many spoke to me at the Congress and shared how meaningful it was and expressed thanks for the Congress. I hope and pray that graces of the Congress bear fruit in our diocese for many years to come.

U.P. State Fair continues The 95th annual U.P.
By Brice Burge The Alger County Commission made three decisions that positively impact veterans in the area at its Committee of the Whole on Monday, Aug. 14.

As fallout continues to impact Alger County after North Country Disposal pulled its recycling services, a new concern is challenging local business owners regarding responsible waste removal. Commercial recycling is at a complete standstill in Alger County as businesses have no way to get recyclable materials from their locations to transfer stations.

The U.P. Football All Star Game, the annual contest between the best graduated seniors on the gridiron from the region, has ended. This is according to a post made on the game’s official Facebook page from the game’s founder Todd Goldbeck.

The annual Alger County Fair ran from August 4-6 at the county fairgrounds in Chatham, with large crowds participating and visiting in various events during the weekend. Over 100 animals were involved in the livestock show, animal costume contest and horse speed events.
Eden Lutheran worships on Saturdays at 5pm, and on Sundays at 1030am, followed by coffee fellowship. Eden offers “open communion” at the Lord’s table, where all are welcome. On the 4th Sundays we will use the traditional sung liturgy.
