Free Skate for All!

Thanks to a generous donation from Alger County Communities that Care (AC3) anyone who wants to can enjoy ice skating in the months to come. Alger Centennial Arena had already placed ‘Free Skate’ on their schedule, meaning anyone could skate during those times with no cost for admission.

ACT UP!

ACT UP! – TheAlger Community Theatre of the Upper Peninsula had its first meeting with 24 people in attendance. New business included deciding upon the name of the group. Several thoughts were expressed about productions and the goals for the coming year. ACT UP! meets Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Falling Rock Café and Bookstore. Anyone with an interest in theatre is welcome to attend!

Two Music Greats Play on Wintry Night

The storm might have been raging outside, but inside Whisky Dick’s was where all the action was. On Friday, January 12 th BJ Benson started off the night with a set of favorites which had toes tapping and bar patrons occasionally singing along. Then, after a break and much discussion, Whiskey Ryan joined BJ Benson on stage while outside the snow swirled down.

Griffin Still Missing

Searchers continue to look for five-monthold Griffin who was lost during a traffic accident in South Dakota. He and the rest of his sled dog team were unharmed, though the RV they were in was destroyed.
