Welcome home Ryder James Matthews! Ryder was born on Monday, May 8, 2023 to Travis Matthews and Dannie Hebert of Munising. This is the couple’s first child. Ryder was seven pounds, 12 ounces and 21 inches long at birth. The baby and mother have enjoyed a healthy first week together surrounded by friends and family. Congratulations!

A major landslide closed the south end of Hickory Street in Munising in the early hours of Thursday, May 4, 2023. Over a dozen trees came were completely dislodged in an event that appears to be from too much water in the hill.

Munising Township took major steps towards a long-time goal of the municipality by approving new 911 signs for property parcels in the township. Also known as fire number signs, the township approved the measure at the regular township meeting on Monday, May 1 at the Munising Township Hall.
