In what could have been a culturally and financially devastating event of vandalism, the snow base at the Chatham Ski Hill has been repaired. According to ski hill manager Trevor Case, the hill is as good as it can be given the circumstances and safe for local skiers, snowboarders and sledders.

The library’s book club, Alger Reads, is in full swing with the start of the new year. It meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm in the library. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, February 28 at 6:00 pm and we will be discussing the book The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune. It’s a bestselling contemporary fantasy story from the Lambda Literary Award winning author. Request to hold your copy now so you can read it before our next meeting. Munising Mayor Pro Tem Johanna Bogater attended the 2023 State of the State address in person on Wednesday, January 25 at the Michigan State Capitol. Bogater was a guest of 109th District Representative Jenn Hill (D-Marquette).

Jack Bergman (R-Watersmeet) announced he will serve on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, the House Armed Services Committee, and the House Budget Committee in the 118th Congress. “Serving on these three critical committees in the new Republican majority is an honor and I’m ready to hit the ground running.
