During National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) April 22-29, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) urges Michigan parents to ensure their children are fully vaccinated on time for the best possible protection from serious diseases. Each year, NIIW focuses on the positive impact of vaccination on the lives of infants and children — and this year it’s a priority to ensure families stay on track for their children’s well-child visits and routinely recommended vaccinations. On-time vaccination is critical to help provide protection against potentially life-threatening diseases.

City Commission Meeting Recap: April 15, 2024

The Munising City Commission held a scheduled meeting on April 15, 2024 at the City Hall. All but one Commissioner were present and nine residents attended. Several new business actions were taken. The appointment of Robin Pavase and DJ Raica to the Planning Commission was approved as was the proposed License Agreement for the Fourth of July committee. There was a presentation on the upcoming Earth Fest events to be held at Munising School Public Library beginning April 20 at 10:30 a.m.

So just as we discussed last week, we all have the ability to become our healthiest self, and health can look different for everyone. For example, starting to pay attention more to nutrition and make healthier food choices could be health for someone who struggles with obesity, while loosening up on nutrition “control” and incorporating more types of food could be health for someone who has struggled with an eating disorder. Additionally, health is not just physical. It goes much deeper than exercise and nutrition; it includes our mindset and thoughts, outlook on life, relationships, and more. So, by shifting our actions and our thoughts, we can all achieve the healthiest version of ourselves.

What Can My Public Library Offer Me?

Munising School Public Library (MSPL) is the only legally established public library in Alger County and has amazing services available to all cardholders. Anyone who is a resident of Alger County is eligible for a card. With a large and diverse collection of materials and excellent access to a robust interlibrary loan system, nearly anything in print is available for checkout. The onsite collection of over 29,000 titles includes fiction and non-fiction books, videos, audiobooks, and periodicals for adults, children, and young adults.
