SUVCW Meeting Scheduled

Camp #266 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will hold their bi-monthly meeting on Saturday, April 6th at 10:30 am, at the U.P. Military Museum at 1001 N Lincoln Rd, Escanaba, MI (adjacent to the UP State Fairground on its south-west corner in the Chamber of Commerce Building). The Camp will tour the museum as part of its meeting.

MDHHS launches application tracker to allow Michiganders to easily monitor benefits status in MI Bridges

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is announcing the release of a new function to the MI Bridges website where Michiganders apply for benefits like Medicaid, food assistance and more. The new application tracker will allow residents to follow the progress of their benefits application online rather than waiting for a determination letter or having to call into a local office.

Say what? Insights on communication

One of my favorite comedy sketches of all time is “Who’s on First?” by Bud Abbott and Lou Costello. It is sometimes known as “Baseball” and was first performed in 1938. The premise of the bit is two people communicating about different baseball players on a team. As one attempts to explain the positions of the players to the other, their communication gets more and more confused and misinterpreted, resulting in both conversationalists being frustrated. Most listeners and viewers are chuckling in no time. It is a great example of the very human experience of miscommunication.
