Munising 4-H Baseball and Sotball Club Registration Open

Munising Baseball/Softball program, formerly with Alger Parks and Recreation, is in the process of transitioning from Little League to 4-H. The former board members are eagerly embracing this transition and are steadfast in their dedication to assisting everyone through the process. For over a century, 4-H has stood as a cornerstone of youth development nationwide, endorsed by the USDA for its commitment to promoting healthy living. The 4-H, healthy living mission is dedicated to empowering youth and families with access to opportunities that foster optimal physical, social, and emotional well-being. Registration for Munising’s baseball, softball, and T-ball teams is now open for players aged 5 to 14 as of January 1, 2024. All skill levels are encouraged to participate, and registration will be available from March 1 to March 31, 2024. No enrollments will be accepted after the March 31 deadline. The season, spanning six weeks, will commence in May and conclude in June, with specific days and times to be determined. The registration costs vary by category: T-ball players are priced at $20, Minors, Majors, and Girls Softball at $35, and Juniors at $40. Notably, this year introduces a family cap of $55, meaning families will only need to pay fees for the first two players from the same household. Families registering more than two players will only be required to pay the two highest registration fees, with additional players being free of charge.

The Frayed Rope: A Lesson in Maintenance, Love, and Faith

There is a story about a monastery in Europe perched high on a cliff several hundred feet in the air. The only way to reach the monastery was to be suspended in a basket which was pulled to the top by several monks who pulled and tugged with all their strength. Obviously the ride up the steep cliff in that basket was terrifying. One tourist got exceedingly nervous about half-way up as he noticed that the rope by which he was suspended was old and frayed. With a trembling voice he asked the monk who was riding with him in the basket how often they changed the rope. The monk thought for a moment and answered brusquely, “Whenever it breaks.”
