Holiday Used Book ‘Sale’ begins Monday

Are you looking for some great books to give as gifts on a budget? Our annual Holiday Used Book “Sale” takes place this year from Dec. 16 to Dec. 21 during open hours. This book “sale” is by free-will donation only. Stop by and find some books for everyone on your list, and maybe some for yourself as well. Take as many books as your sleigh will hold.

No traction on trail deal

For over three decades, snowmobilers have traversed Trail No. 422 to reach Miners Castle in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The trail, long regarded as a critical artery for winter recreation in the region, has now been closed because of an expired agreement between the Alger County Road Commission and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Making the season bright
