Things got interesting in the final moments, but the Superior Central girls basketball team was able to earn one of its best wins of the season on Jan. 16.

Three players scored in double figures for the Munising Baptist boys basketball team last Friday. The Bobcats displayed some steady defense, too, and were able to earn a road win at Grand Marais, 7541, in Northern Lights League action.

The Munising Pool League’s Week 5 matchups posted on Jan. 15 showcased intense competition, with tight scores reflecting a true battle for the top spots.

Devin Olson, who has served as Munising’s city manager since Jan. 20, 2014, has announced his resignation. In a letter submitted to the City Commission on Jan. 15 — just days shy of his 11th anniversary in the role — Olson cited personal reasons for stepping down.

The Munising City Commission met Wednesday, Jan. 15, to discuss a range of issues, including infrastructure updates, downtown development and events that will affect the area in the coming months.

Last Saturday around 2:30 p.m., a Michigan State Police Negaunee Post trooper located a stolen vehicle, along with the suspect, in the parking lot of TJ Maxx in Marquette. MSP had previously been investigating the reported stolen vehicle out of Alger County and had identified the suspect in the case.
