Flame of Hope Week Raises Awareness and Funds for Special Olympics Athletes
The Munising community came together once again to support the Flame of Hope, a pivotal event aimed at raising awareness for Special Olympics athletes. Organized by Carl White, a retired Captain and Michigan LETR Executive Council member, and his wife Carla, the local Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) was held on September 25, 2024, and saw 14 participants either walk or run a 5k, beginning and ending at the East Channel Brewery, located in the heart of downtown Munising. Participants followed a scenic route that showcased the natural beauty of the area, while bringing attention to an important cause.

Jamerson, a musical historian, will tell stories and perform songs based on interviews with ski jumpers of the bygone era. This is a family friendly event for anyone with an interest in U.P. history.
