The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) are warning Michigan seniors to be on alert for scams and high-pressure sales tactics during this year’s annual Medicare Open Enrollment period, which runs from October 15 through December 7.

Are you the owner of a large private forest land area who would like to protect your property while continuing to sustainably manage the timber resource? Are you a tribal member or employee who is aware of some significantly important forest land that is in need of protection through a partnership with the state? Do you own a forested tract of land that is worthy of protection and strategically located adjacent to state, federal or other protected lands? Do you represent a conservation organization that is interested in a partnership to protect important forests?

Tail Spinners Storytime takes place at the library on Mondays at 10:30 A.M. Pre-school aged children and their caregivers are invited to attend this 30-minute activity for ages 7 and under. “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!” (1 Chronicles 16:34) What are we thankful for this year? Health? Family? Finances? Church? The list could (and should be lengthy). Our God gives us good reason to be thankful. He is a God who mercifully and generously provides for our daily needs. We see this every day as we have food to eat, clothes to wear, homes to live in, cars to drive and more. All that we are and all that we have is a gift of God. He has made it all and He gives it all.

Q: My daughter is 3 years old and has had several ear infections, mostly during the winter months. After reading your article this past January about having her “pop her ears”, I taught her the technique, which she picked up fairly quickly and she only had one other infection the rest of the winter.

The Munising Township Commission voted to approve the new five-year recreation plan for the municipality at the township’s regular meeting on Monday, November 6. This was after a public hearing and a month of public review of the plan.
