GRAND ISLAND LODGE DELIVERS BREAKFAST TO THE COMMUNITY Grand Island Lodge # 422 will be served up a pancake breakfast on Saturday, January 20th from 9:00 am till Noon. This effort, part of a program which is aimed at serving the community, was met with a lot of enthusiasm on the part of volunteers and diners alike.

Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has withdrawn support from the Munising Marketplace project. While this sounds concerning at first glance, it is important to note that the MEDC is a single part of the entire investment.

Munising, MICHIGAN —On the evening of January 10th, a 3-year-old dog named Dancer got off her leash and fell off a cliff near Miners Castle onto a ledge 60 feet below. After hours of searching the area, Dancer’s owners were unable to locate their dog in the dark and were convinced she had not survived the fall.

We finally have that snow cover we were looking for! Last week’s storm left us a decent snowfall, with between 8” and 12” of snow on the ground at the start of the week according to the National Weather Service, creating fair to good ski conditions and hope for a chance to finally enjoy winter sports fully – eventually.

Join the Alger Conservation District and Michigan State University Extension for their 2024 Women in the Woods snowshoe series! Come be a part of a community of women who appreciate the forests around them while getting fresh air and exercise to fight off cabin fever. The first trail of the season will be on Thursday, February 1st, at Valley Spur Cross Country Trail in Munising. The hike runs from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.. In the weeks to which follow, the trail will take hikers to Blueberry Ridge Pathway in Marquette on February 8th and to Al Quaal Recreation Area in Ishpeming on February 15th.

Munising, MICHIGAN — As of January 1st, 2024, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore has increased park entrance fees. These increases are the third and final stage of the park’s fee implementation plan, which began in 2022.
