Now that school is back in session, school buses are back on the road. Today I want to talk about the importance of stopping for school busses. It is illegal to pass a school bus when its lights are flashing.

Words on print. It’s what we have been trying to do since the conception of The Munising Beacon. We have spent over a year on social media and producing digital copies to get to this point. But with this edition, that goal of words on print has come to fruition.

On August 24, U.S. District Judge Paul Maloney in Kalamazoo approved an agreement among four indigenous tribes, federal regulators, and the state of Michigan, establishing fishing regulations for portions of the upper Great Lakes. This accord, which allocates fishing privileges across Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and Lake Superior, extends a preexisting regulatory structure that had been in deliberation since its lapse in 2020, now spanning the next 24 years.
