MPS shows major student attendance growth
Munising Public Schools is seeing more students in the classroom more often, as chronic absenteeism has been slashed in half since the 2020-21 school year. According to a post made by Munising Public Schools Superintendent Mike Travis, the amount of students classified as chronically absent has dropped from 262 to 109.

Michigan continued to rank 10th nationally in high school-aged population during the 2022-23 school year and continued to best that ranking in participation in high school sports, according to the annual national participation study conducted by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).

Cogger, Beaupied honored by SC
Two Superior Central staff members were honored by the school staff and community for their efforts in the 2022-23 school year. Jacob Cogger was the recipient of the Innovator of the Year award.

Between Munising, Superior Central and Munising Baptist, 62 seniors have graduated from Alger County high schools. These seniors have done incredible things through schoolwork, in the community and through extracurricular events.

It was a small and intimate gathering of roughly 50 people at the Munising Baptist Church on Sunday, May 21, as ten graduating seniors from two local high schools celebrated their graduations in a baccalaureate ceremony. It was the first known service of its kind since the mid 1970s.
