Run with the Cows 5K held in Chatham
The Chatham Lions Club hosted their annual Run with the Cows 5K race on Saturday. With 142 participants registered for the event it was once again deemed a success.

Disc Golf tournament to be held at Grand Marais Superior Pines course
After a successful year one in 2023, event organizers are hoping year two goes even better. On August 17 for the second year in a row a tournament will be held at the Superior Pines Disc Golf Course.

Munising Lions Club Supports Tour Da Yoop, Eh Childhood Cancer Fundraiser
On August 1, the Munising Lions staffed a hydration station for the Tour Da Yoop, Eh bikers providing water, ice, and food on a hot muggy day. Thirty-seven bikers as well as their support and gear crews came through the Munising area and stopped at the Bear Trap Restaurant for a quick break before completing that day’s journey from Marquette to Grand Marais. The Lions visited with the bikers and crew from around the country as they rehydrated and replenished their energy reserves to complete the last 40 miles of the day.

Mike Davis, Guillaume Blais pull off thrilling win at AuSable River Canoe Marathon
It took a historic comeback to do it, but Mike Davis and Guillaume Blais are your 2024 Consumers Energy AuSable River Canoe Marathon champions. Davis, of Homer, MI and Blais, of Saint-Boniface, QC found themselves as far back as fourth place and over 13 minutes behind the leaders, before surging in the final hours to claim the victory.

Valley Spur trail system receives grant
Valley Spur, a much-loved trail system in Alger County, is getting a much-needed shot in the arm. The trails, which are a frequent visit for ski, snowshoe and mountain bike enthusiasts, recently received a $99,950 USDA Rural Development Small Business Grant.
