Munising wins before districts
The Munising Mustang wrestling team had two strong performances against the Marquette Redmen and the Newberry Indians to wrap up the team’s regular season. Munising beat Marquette 36-21 and Newberry 51-18 in the tri-meet.

Cougars win Orange Out game against Mid Pen
The Superior Central Cougars took a strong opening run and stretched it into a victory against rival Mid Peninsula on Tuesday, Jan. 31 in Eben Junction. It was the first time this year that the Cougars boys team lead a contest from first points to end of the game.

Mustangs cruise past Bark River-Harris
The Munising High School boys basketball team owned the paint Tuesday night, beating the Bark River-Harris Broncos, 78-43, in Bark River. The Mustangs had four players score in double figures, led by Cully Trzeciak’s 20 points.

The Superior Central girls basketball team lost a close game at North Dickinson on Monday, Jan. 30 by a score of 32-31. The loss was the first of the calendar year and ends a six-game winning streak for the Cougars.

The Emeralds Varsity Hockey team continued their winning ways in one of the most well-rounded victories in program history on Saturday. Dominating every facet of the game, the Emeralds set a program record for shots on goal and allowed one of the fewest shot totals in team history in a 6-0 win over the Petoskey Northmen. The game was the final home contest for the Emeralds this season, who celebrated their senior class of players prior to the game.

No.13MichiganTechswept rival Northern Michigan with a 4-1 win Saturday at the Berry Events Center. The Huskies improved to 18-7-4 overall and 11-5-4 with their third straight win over the Wildcats. Tech moved into second in the CCHA standings, three points behind Minnesota State.

Mustangs back to winning ways
The Munising Mustang girls basketball team is back to its winning ways after defeating Rapid River 67-14 on Jan. 20 and at Engadine 61-39 on Jan. 24. Paired with a win at Manistique last week, Munising is now on a three-game winning streak.

Munising hosts Mini-Mustang Tournament
The Mather Pit was packed with fans from all across the central Upper Peninsula for the Munising Mini Mustang Tournament on Saturday, January 21. One of the premier youth basketball tournaments in the U.P., games were held at both Mather and the Munising Middle/High School gymnasium.

Wrestlers compete at U.P. Finals
The Munising Mustang wrestling team took tenth place at the Upper Peninsula Finals wrestling meet on Saturday, January 21 in Marquette. The tournament style meet showcased the best of the U.P.’s prep wrestlers, with three local wrestlers standing out for the Mustangs.
