The Trenary EMS ran its annual ice skating party on Saturday March 4 at the Mathias Township outdoor ice rink in Trenary. The event. Above, some kids enjoyed the nice weather to pass a puck around outside the Lions skating shack, while the inlet shows volunteers providing snacks and hot dogs to the roughly 100 people who showed up throughout the event. According to Trenary EMS’s Bessie Hoy, the event can help showcase emergency responders as people first, which can be crucial for kids in an emergency. “This way the kids get to know us outside of driving that ambulance. It’s good to give back and to thank Gloria and Dan Niemi for all the work they did for the rink,” she said. Brice Burge
