Tom and Amie Nolan of Munising are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter, Taylor Swartz, to George Kanyuh. George is the son of George and Lisa Kanyuh of Rapid River.
Taylor and George’s love story began through a special connection at the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post, where Taylor’s father, Tom, was George’s post commander. After hearing her dad mention what a great guy George was, repeatedly, Taylor finally agreed to a date. Their first evening together was spent exploring Munising’s frozen waterfalls in November 2021, followed by dinner at Tracey’s and a night out with friends.
Not long after, Taylor had a moment of complete certainty that George was meant to be in her life. While standing in her kitchen one day, she was suddenly overwhelmed by the feeling that God had sent him to her. It was a deep, reassuring realization — one that made it clear to her that he would one day be her husband.
Throughout their relationship, George has helped Taylor grow in her faith, something for which she is incredibly grateful. Together, they have built a relationship rooted in loyalty, strength and unconditional love. From moving across the state to start a new life together to sharing countless playful moments — like George’s habit of always eating the last slice of pizza — their journey has been filled with laughter and support.
George proposed on a quiet evening in St. Joseph, Michigan, choosing a simple and intimate moment on a stairwell after dinner. The surprise was a rare success, as Taylor is nearly impossible to catch off guard.
Now, the couple is looking forward to celebrating their wedding surrounded by family and friends as they step into their future together.
