The 2022-23 Munising Mustang boys basketball team’s state championship sign is now welcoming opponents to the city. Installed by the Michigan Department of Transportation on Wednesday, Aug 23 on M-28 on the western edge of the municipal limits. The team defeated Wyoming Tri-Unity Christian, a private school from the greater Grand Rapids area, in the MHSAA Division 4 state championship on Saturday, March 25. It was the first state championship in basketball for the school and was part of the “Year of the Champions” for the Mustangs, as Munising won three state championships in the 2022-23 school year.
