The Michigan UP Veterans Hockey Club won the USA Hockey Warrior Classic in Denver on Oct. 6-8, defeating the downstate Michigan Warrior team 5-0 in the finals. This is the second championship for the Keweenaw-based team after winning last year. The UP Veterans outscored their opponents 33-14 during the tournament. According to USA Hockey, the Warrior Classic brings teams from around the country to participate in a weekend of hockey that is dedicated to disabled U.S. Military Veterans who play the great sport of ice hockey.
