The lack of an agreement affects Trail No. 422, which has provided snowmobile access to Miners Castle within Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore for about four decades. U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman, who was elected this month to a fifth term in Congress representing Michigan’s 1st District, sent a letter to the road commission stating that the decision “demonstrates a blatant disregard for the economic wellbeing of the surrounding community and the voices of the residents you are entrusted to serve.” The Beacon will report more on this story in the coming weeks.
