APRIL 23, 2026, MUNISING-At 5:44PM, Alger County Dispatch received a 911 call for a structure fire in the City of Munising on the 600 block of West Superior Street. Munising City Fire Department, Munising Township, AuTrain Township, and Rock River Township Fire Departments were also dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the multi-structure home was fully engulfed. Paramedics from the Alger County EMS were also dispatched. At this time, it can be confirmed that that the fire resulted in a single fatality. As of 8:20PM, fire and law enforcement services were still on scene.
Additional information will be released tomorrow morning. Authorities caution the public to avoid the area as it is still an active emergency scene.
