Voters turned out Tuesday in two local municipalities for a light election day across Alger County.

In the City of Munising, both incumbents were re-elected to the City Commission.

  • Christine Berry received 171 votes (41.11%)

  • Bob Wilkinson received 167 votes (40.12%)
    Two unresolved write-ins accounted for the remaining ballots.

In Grand Island Township, voters approved both local millage proposals:

  • Renewal of the Fire Protection Services Millage: Passed unanimously, 19 yes to 0 no.

  • Proposal to Offset Millage Rollbacks of the Township Operating Tax Levy: Passed unanimously, 19 yes to 0 no.

A total of 227 ballots were cast countywide, representing 13.13% voter turnout.
Results are unofficial until certified by the county canvassing board.

These results are unofficial until the Alger County Board of Canvassers meets to verify and certify them. The board will review the paperwork on Thursday at 10 a.m. Once certification is complete, the official results will be posted on the county website via https://www.algercounty.gov.
