Grace Geshrick

Grace Geshrick is a high school senior and one of the newest members of The Munising Beacon’s reporting team. Her reporting has taken her across Alger County, covering veterans events, the Alger County Fair, outdoor recreation and other community stories.

Outside the newsroom, Geshrick is an accomplished student and competitor. She has represented Munising in WNMU-TV’s High School Bowl and serves as captain of the school’s forensics team, where she competes in oratory and has earned multiple first-place finishes in Upper Peninsula competition. Her oration on perfectionism among gifted students reflects the same interest in people, ideas and storytelling that she brings to her reporting.

Geshrick intends to study journalism after high school and is already building experience in the field through her work with the Beacon. Her assignments have ranged from veterans and community events to state policy, including interviewing state Sen. Ed McBroom for her reporting on proposed social media age restrictions in Michigan. Whether covering the people in her own backyard or examining issues being debated in Lansing, Geshrick brings curiosity, confidence and the perspective of a young journalist already learning the craft by doing it.
